Dr. Karen Dudek-Brannan received her bachelor’s (2002) and master’s degrees (2004) at Illinois State University. In December of 2004, she began practicing as a speech-language pathologist in the school systems.
In 2005, she began her postgraduate course work, receiving the Assistive Technology and Director of Special Education certificates, and she completed her doctorate in special education in 2014 from Illinois State University.
While completing her coursework, Dr. Dudek-Brannan’s research focused on vocabulary and metalinguistic strategy instruction for typically developing students and students with disabilities. She also conducted surveys investigating the current practices and perspectives of speech-language pathologists serving the school-aged populations. Her research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Dudek-Brannan has taught graduate-level courses in special education and communication sciences and disorders. Her areas of expertise include school-aged language, Response to Intervention, and special education policy and procedure.
She currently lives in Bloomington, IL.
